Computer Vision: Science & Technology of Machines That See.

Think about how you approach a jigsaw puzzle. You have all these pieces, and you need to assemble them into an image. That’s how neural networks for computer vision work. They distinguish many different pieces of the image, they identify the edges and then model the sub-components. Using filtering and a series of actions through deep network layers, they can piece all the parts of the image together, much like you would with a puzzle. – GM


Confidential Mode for Gmail

Gmail is getting a confidential mode come June 25. It allows users to send mails that only the intended receiver can access via SMS verification code and also lets them set an expiration date on the mail(s) that makes them completely inaccessible once the expiration date rolls in. – EE


Gokada Secures Funding, Gains Co-CEO

Gokada, Lagos-based on-demand motorcycle taxi app, today announced it has secured a Series A funding totalling $5.3 million. The round was led by Rise Capital. The company also announced that former Jobberman CEO, Ayodeji Adewunmi, has joined Gokada as co-CEO alongside Fahim Saleh. – PA
