Weekly Tech Roundup for April 26 2019
We also included some snippets from our daily knowledge development sessions, just to give you a little extra knowledge. After all, knowledge is never enough. Take your time and digest every one of them. The world is fast evolving and so should your mind.
Tech Snippets
On the 17th of April 2019, Facebook told the world that they have been unintentionally uploading the email contacts of 1.5 mil users since May 2016 to the social media. Luckily, they were not sent to anyone and currently deleting them. -EE
As developers, we need to learn how to write clean and possibly human readable code in order to make it easier for ourselves and others to understand without stress or worries. -OI
Ever heard of Nanotechnology? What do we really now about it? What does it apply and why does it matter? Take a few minutes to go through this article to see all the daily interactions we have with nanotechnology. -OS
Another problem comes when we upgrade to new devices, something the tech industry encourages through warranty expirations and payment contracts. Our old ones often go in a drawer as a backup “just in case” phone. Or we may ship them off to an e-recycler that shreds or smashes them to collect the materials as efficiently as possible. Worse, we might just toss our once-loved phone into a landfill. -GM
Google is adding a new budgeting feature to its Play Store that will allow Android users to establish a monthly maximum they want to spend on digital content. -GM
Software Role/Title Descriptions
Software related roles and titles explained as clearly as possible to help stop mix up in role definitions. Fine, you may have to sometimes work beyond your job description but at least know what’s important. -OI
Every phone company wants to be in the flexible device game and Sony has taken it to another level. Imagine a bag on which you can place your screen and fold it to fit the bag surface and take it off whenever it pleases you? -EE
Rather than hire a celebrity to be the face of their brand, KFC are trying something new: a virtual face. This is actually pretty clever. They’ll never age, they’ll never demand more money, and they’ll never get involved in a scandal. Smart move. -EE
